Ocean Breeze dry ice blasting

When we take a job in Ocean Breeze, the rig comes to the machine rather than the other way round.

How the work runs here

We work on driveways, in yards and inside shops that cannot take water on the floor. It is also why nothing has to be crated up and driven across town, the work happens where the machine already sits in Ocean Breeze.

Solid to gas on impact. Nothing settles into a bearing, nothing runs toward a drain, and the only residue is what was already on the part.

Questions from Ocean Breeze

Do you cover Ocean Breeze?

Yes. Ocean Breeze is inside our regular working area, and the rig travels to the job rather than the other way round.

What do we have to provide?

Space for the rig and a way to reach the machine. Everything else arrives with us.

Will you work during a shutdown?

Most of the time. Shutdowns and after-hours work are normal for us; what matters is knowing the window early.

What kinds of jobs do you take here?

Everything from an engine bay in a driveway to a production line at shutdown. The process is the same, pointed at a different problem.

Does distance affect the price?

It depends how far out the job is. We will be straight with you about it when you describe the work.

How do I get started?

Send the equipment, the location and a short description with photos if you have them. One of the owners calls you back.

Conditions around Ocean Breeze

The heat matters more than people expect: baked-on residue cures harder in a South Florida summer. That is why so much of the work is removing what has bonded to a surface without taking the surface with it.

Light industrial, automotive and marine make up most of what we are called out for. The setup is the same in all of them, because everything the job needs turns up on the van.

With no slurry to contain and no media to recover, a confined Martin County site stops being a problem.

What comes off

The deposits we see most

Most calls involve one of the following. The common factor is a bond between two things that should not be bonded.

  • Paint and coatings

Selective removal, layer by layer, on parts where media blasting would cut into the substrate.

  • Salt and corrosion product

Salt deposit and the oxidation it starts. Anything abrasive removes the protection along with the salt.

  • Ink and printing residue

Ink and coating on anilox and press rollers, surfaces where changing the texture changes the print.

  • Food residue

Carbonized product, fat, starch and sugar build-up on processing equipment, cleaned without chemicals touching a food contact surface.

  • Grease and oil

The greasy base coat that traps grit and dust. It releases early and takes the loose material with it.

  • Carbon and soot

Baked carbon on a manifold, oven or weld fixture. Thermal shock is exactly the wrong thing for the bond holding it on, which is why this works.

  • Adhesive and sealant

The stubborn film under old tape, or the gasket that tore and left half of itself behind.

How a job runs

What happens once you call

If you have not seen this done before, the process is worth reading once. Nothing below is hidden in a footnote.

  • We look at access and containment

Where the compressor sits, how far the hose has to reach, what gets masked or moved, and where the removed contaminant ends up. On food and electrical work this is most of the planning.

  • We test a small area

Settings get proven somewhere nobody looks before they get used somewhere everybody does. What is correct on cast iron will mark aluminum, so the test is not a formality.

  • We blast, then clean up

The media disappears on contact; the contaminant does not. Gathering what came off is included, not a line added afterward.

  • You look before we pack up

Inspect it with the rig still set up. Anything you are not happy with gets another go before we leave.

  • You describe the job

Describe the equipment and the mess. If it cannot come offline that changes the plan, so say so early.

The comparison

How this compares to the usual methods

  • Media blasting

It works by removing material, which is the problem. Acceptable on heavy steel, damaging on soft alloy, plating or a machined surface.

  • Pressure washing

Drives water into harnesses, bearings, panels and seams, then everything waits to dry. On electrical work it is simply not an option.

  • Solvent and degreaser

It loosens the mess and leaves its own behind, along with fumes and something to dispose of.

  • Hand scraping

Slow, inconsistent, and the tool marks the surface. Fine for a small area, unworkable across a machine.

  • Dry ice

The pellet is soft and the mechanism is temperature, not abrasion. It turns to gas on impact, so the only thing left to sweep up is what came off.

What happens in your space

Surfaces come out cold. On some jobs that means waiting a few minutes before handling, and on others it means condensation as the part returns to ambient temperature.

The rig needs compressed air, which the truck supplies. There is no hookup to find and nothing of yours to plug into.

Anything nearby that should not be touched gets masked before we start. That is quicker than explaining it afterward.

Dry ice is carbon dioxide in solid form. It is non-toxic and leaves no residue, but it does displace oxygen in an enclosed space, so ventilation is part of the setup rather than an afterthought.
