Cooper City dry ice blasting

Cooper City work comes to us the same way most of it does: something is coated in build-up and cannot be sanded, soaked or dissolved.

The practical side

Nothing about the setup needs a drain, a hookup or a bay. Which means no downtime spent in transit and no risk of damage moving it out of Cooper City and back.

The media is gone by the time it has done its work, so there is no sand to vacuum and no water to mop. Only the contaminant is left, and that leaves with us.

Questions from Cooper City

Do you need anything set up before you arrive?

Just access and parking. There is no tap to find, no drain to use and nothing of yours to plug into.

Can you come outside business hours?

Yes, within reason. Planned outages are easiest because everybody already knows the window.

What do most jobs look like?

It ranges from a single restoration project to a plant maintenance window. The method does not change much.

Does distance affect the price?

Sometimes, on the longer runs. Either way it is discussed before anyone commits.

How do we book it in?

Send the equipment, the location and a short description with photos if you have them. One of the owners calls you back.

Will you travel to Cooper City?

Yes. Cooper City is inside our regular working area, and the rig travels to the job rather than the other way round.

The local conditions

Humidity is the constant. Anything bare oxidizes faster than it would almost anywhere else. So the job is usually less about scrubbing harder and more about not making the underlying problem worse.

The mix here runs from vehicle work in driveways to production equipment inside industrial units. None of those settings need modifying: the compressor, hose and collection all come with us.

Because the media sublimates, there is no slurry running toward a storm drain and no grit left in a machine. On a tight site in Broward County that is often the deciding factor.

What comes off

What comes off, and why

If it is bonded to the surface rather than part of it, there is a good chance this takes it off. The list below covers most of what we are called out for.

  • Resin and mold release

Cured process residue on a mold or fixture. The surface has to come out dimensionally unchanged, which rules out anything abrasive.

  • Paint and coatings

Removed selectively where the substrate underneath has to survive, which rules out most abrasive approaches.

  • Salt and corrosion product

Salt deposit and the oxidation it starts. Anything abrasive removes the protection along with the salt.

  • Ink and printing residue

Ink and coating on anilox and press rollers, surfaces where changing the texture changes the print.

  • Food residue

Burnt-on product, fat and sugar on processing gear, with no chemical residue left on a contact surface.

  • Grease and oil

The greasy base coat that traps grit and dust. It releases early and takes the loose material with it.

  • Carbon and soot

The hard black crust on a housing, an oven or a weld cell. Bonded by heat, and the first thing to release under thermal shock.

How a job runs

Nothing about this should be a surprise

Nobody should have to guess what they booked. This is every stage of a job in the order it happens.

  • You describe the job

We start with what it is and what is on it. Whether it can come offline matters as much as the contaminant, and a wrong-tool answer is one we give up front rather than after the invoice.

  • We look at access and containment

Where the compressor sits, how far the hose has to reach, what gets masked or moved, and where the removed contaminant ends up. On food and electrical work this is most of the planning.

  • We test a small area

An out-of-sight patch comes first so pressure and pellet size are proven before anything that shows. Soft alloys, older paint and bare metal each want different numbers.

  • We blast, then clean up

One mess instead of two: the pellet vanishes and we take away what it removed.

  • You look before we pack up

A second pass while everything is still connected is free in every sense. A return trip is not.

The comparison

Why not just pressure wash it

  • Hand scraping

It is the fallback when nothing else is available, and it shows on the surface afterward.

  • Media blasting

Abrasive by definition. Anything with a tolerance or a finish worth keeping comes out changed.

  • Pressure washing

Drives water into harnesses, bearings, panels and seams, then everything waits to dry. On electrical work it is simply not an option.

  • Solvent and degreaser

Good at softening, bad at leaving. There is always a residue and always a drum to get rid of.

  • Dry ice

Thermal contraction cracks the bond between deposit and surface, then the pellet gasses off. Nothing abrasive, nothing wet, nothing left.

What to expect on site

The rig needs compressed air, which the truck supplies. There is no hookup to find and nothing of yours to plug into.

Anything nearby that should not be touched gets masked before we start. That is quicker than explaining it afterward.

The media is solid CO2, nothing toxic and nothing left behind, but it pushes oxygen out of a closed room. Ventilation gets planned before the hose is connected.

This is not a quiet method. Ear defenders are standard issue on site for anyone nearby.
