Tequesta dry ice blasting

When we take a job in Tequesta, the rig comes to the machine rather than the other way round.

The practical side

The compressor runs off the truck, so there is no wash pad to find and no runoff to manage. Which means no downtime spent in transit and no risk of damage moving it out of Tequesta and back.

The media is gone by the time it has done its work, so there is no sand to vacuum and no water to mop. Only the contaminant is left, and that leaves with us.

Questions from Tequesta

Can you come outside business hours?

Yes, within reason. Planned outages are easiest because everybody already knows the window.

What do most jobs look like?

A mix, vehicle work, shop equipment, marine and light industrial. Same rig, different constraint each time.

Do you charge for the drive?

Distance can factor in. You will hear about it up front, not on the invoice.

How do we book it in?

Describe the job and send a photo or two. Giancarlo or Kenny will call you, not a scheduler.

Will you travel to Tequesta?

Yes. Tequesta is inside our regular working area, and the rig travels to the job rather than the other way round.

Do you need anything set up before you arrive?

Access to the equipment and somewhere to park the compressor. No water hookup, no drain and no wash bay.

The local conditions

Humidity is the constant. Anything bare oxidizes faster than it would almost anywhere else. So the job is usually less about scrubbing harder and more about not making the underlying problem worse.

The mix here runs from vehicle work in driveways to production equipment inside industrial units. Whatever the setting, the rig arrives with its own compressor and containment, so nothing about the site has to change to accommodate us.

Because the media sublimates, there is no slurry running toward a storm drain and no grit left in a machine. On a tight site in Palm Beach County that is often the deciding factor.

What comes off

What comes off, and why

Not sure whether yours qualifies? Ask yourself whether it was added on top. If it was, the odds are good, and the common cases are listed below.

  • Paint and coatings

Selective removal, layer by layer, on parts where media blasting would cut into the substrate.

  • Salt and corrosion product

A constant in South Florida. Removing it without stripping the protective finish is the whole trick.

  • Ink and printing residue

Dried ink on precision roller faces, cleaned without altering the cell structure that does the work.

  • Food residue

Carbonized product build-up in a plant where neither standing water nor a chemical film is acceptable.

  • Grease and oil

Grease packs into the corners and recesses a brush cannot reach. The ice gets in there and lifts it without anything scraping the part.

  • Carbon and soot

Soot and baked carbon on ovens, exhausts and weld tooling. No solvent soak and no wire brush, just a sharp drop in temperature that lets the crust release.

  • Adhesive and sealant

Whatever the last repair left stuck to the mating face: gasket, sealant, deadener or adhesive.

How a job runs

Nothing about this should be a surprise

Nobody should have to guess what they booked. This is every stage of a job in the order it happens.

  • We test a small area

A test spot takes minutes and protects the whole job. It tells us how hard to push on this particular surface, which matters more than any rule of thumb.

  • We blast, then clean up

There is no spent media to recover, only the deposit, which we collect before packing up.

  • You look before we pack up

Walk it with us before the hose goes away. A second pass while the compressor is still running costs nothing; a return visit costs us both.

  • You describe the job

You talk to an owner from the first call. If what you describe sounds like a job for a different method, we will say so then, before any money changes hands.

  • We look at access and containment

If something has to be unbolted to reach the dirt, we say so before we arrive. Most of the time it doesn’t, but we will not spring it on you on the day.

The comparison

Why not just pressure wash it

  • Media blasting

It takes the top off whatever it touches. That is the point on rusted plate and the problem everywhere else.

  • Pressure washing

Water gets into everything and has to come out again before the equipment runs. Around electrics it is off the table entirely.

  • Solvent and degreaser

It dissolves the deposit and often the finish underneath, then leaves a film behind either way.

  • Hand scraping

Slow enough to be uneconomic on a machine, and the tool always leaves a trace.

  • Dry ice

The deposit shrinks away from the surface it is stuck to and releases. The ice is gone before it can do any harm.

What to expect on site

This is not a quiet method. Ear defenders are standard issue on site for anyone nearby.

If you plan to put the part back to work right away, allow a few minutes. It comes off cold and may gather condensation before it reaches room temperature.

Your utilities stay untouched. The compressor on our truck feeds the blaster, so your power and air are never borrowed.

Anything nearby that should not be touched gets masked before we start. That is quicker than explaining it afterward.
