Sewall's Point dry ice blasting

Most of what we clean around Sewall's Point is equipment somebody cannot afford to damage.

How the work runs here

We work on driveways, in yards and inside shops that cannot take water on the floor. It is also why nothing has to be crated up and driven across town, the work happens where the machine already sits in Sewall's Point.

The pellet turns straight to gas when it hits, which means no sand in the machine and no sludge on the floor. The only thing to collect is the contaminant itself, and that is included.

Questions from Sewall's Point

What do most jobs look like?

It ranges from a single restoration project to a plant maintenance window. The method does not change much.

Does distance affect the price?

Sometimes, on the longer runs. Either way it is discussed before anyone commits.

How do I get started?

A short description and a couple of pictures is enough to start. An owner rings you back.

Will you travel to Sewall's Point?

Yes, Sewall's Point is well within range, and the compressor comes on the truck with everything else.

Do you need anything set up before you arrive?

Access to the equipment and somewhere to park the compressor. No water hookup, no drain and no wash bay.

Can you come outside business hours?

Generally yes. Weekend and overnight work is routine, and the limiting factor is usually noise, not us.

The local conditions

Humidity is the constant. Anything bare oxidizes faster than it would almost anywhere else. So the job is usually less about scrubbing harder and more about not making the underlying problem worse.

The mix here runs from vehicle work in driveways to production equipment inside industrial units. In every case the truck brings its own air and its own containment, so you are not adapting the site to suit the method.

With no slurry to contain and no media to recover, a confined Martin County site stops being a problem.

What comes off

The deposits we see most

Most calls involve one of the following. The common factor is a bond between two things that should not be bonded.

  • Carbon and soot

Heat-bonded black deposit. Because heat put it there, a sudden cold front is what breaks its grip.

  • Adhesive and sealant

Sound deadening, tape residue, gasket material and sealant that has cured onto a face it was never meant to stay on.

  • Resin and mold release

Release agent and resin build-up on tooling, where a solvent fix trades one residue for another.

  • Paint and coatings

Removed selectively where the substrate underneath has to survive, which rules out most abrasive approaches.

  • Salt and corrosion product

Salt deposit and the oxidation it starts. Anything abrasive removes the protection along with the salt.

  • Ink and printing residue

Dried ink and coating build-up on rollers and press components, where the surface texture is the product.

  • Food residue

Carbonized product, fat, starch and sugar build-up on processing equipment, cleaned without chemicals touching a food contact surface.

How a job runs

What happens once you call

Every job follows the same basic steps. They are laid out below in plain terms, so you know what you are agreeing to.

  • We blast, then clean up

Nothing is left of the pellet, so the only thing to collect is what was on your equipment. That collection is part of the work we quoted.

  • You look before we pack up

A second pass while everything is still connected is free in every sense. A return trip is not.

  • You describe the job

Send images if you can, they settle most of the questions. A wrong-tool verdict comes on that first call, not after the invoice.

  • We look at access and containment

Hose run, compressor position, what needs masking, and where the contaminant is collected. For food and electrical jobs the containment plan takes longer to settle than the blasting does.

  • We test a small area

First pass goes somewhere out of sight. We look at it with you if you want, adjust if needed, and only then work the visible surfaces.

The comparison

Why not just pressure wash it

  • Pressure washing

The water has to go somewhere, and on most equipment that somewhere is inside it.

  • Solvent and degreaser

Trades the deposit for a residue, plus ventilation and waste to deal with, and it is hard on the finish.

  • Hand scraping

Hours of work for an inconsistent result, with gouges where the blade slipped.

  • Media blasting

Effective and indiscriminate. On soft metal or a finished surface it does damage you then have to fix.

  • Dry ice

The deposit shrinks away from the surface it is stuck to and releases. The ice is gone before it can do any harm.

What happens in your space

If the space has no windows and no door that opens to the outside, tell us before the visit. Airflow in a closed room is settled before the first pellet goes in.

This is not a quiet method. Ear defenders are standard issue on site for anyone nearby.

Nothing wet goes onto your equipment, but cold metal in warm air can still pick up condensation. It clears as the part comes back up to temperature.

Remote site with no power? That is fine. The air comes from our truck, so we can work wherever we can reach.

Already tried degreaser or a pressure washer? Tell us that too. Knowing what did not work helps us tell you quickly whether dry ice will.
