Port Salerno dry ice blasting

Port Salerno work comes to us the same way most of it does: something is coated in build-up and cannot be sanded, soaked or dissolved.

What a job looks like locally

The compressor runs off the truck, so there is no wash pad to find and no runoff to manage. That is the practical reason a mobile rig beats hauling equipment somewhere: the machine never leaves Port Salerno.

Dry ice sublimates on contact, so there is no grit, no slurry and no secondary media to sweep up afterward. What is left on the floor is the grease or carbon that came off, and collecting that is part of the job.

Questions from Port Salerno

Can you come outside business hours?

Often yes, a lot of industrial work happens overnight or during a planned outage. Give us the window and we will say straight away whether it is realistic.

What do most jobs look like?

It ranges from a single restoration project to a plant maintenance window. The method does not change much.

Is there a travel charge?

It depends how far out the job is. We will be straight with you about it when you describe the work.

How do I get started?

Send the equipment, the location and a short description with photos if you have them. One of the owners calls you back.

Will you travel to Port Salerno?

Yes. Port Salerno is inside our regular working area, and the rig travels to the job rather than the other way round.

Do you need anything set up before you arrive?

Access to the equipment and somewhere to park the compressor. No water hookup, no drain and no wash bay.

The local conditions

The heat matters more than people expect: baked-on residue cures harder in a South Florida summer. That is why so much of the work is removing what has bonded to a surface without taking the surface with it.

Light industrial, automotive and marine make up most of what we are called out for. None of those settings need modifying: the compressor, hose and collection all come with us.

No runoff and no residual grit, which matters more than it sounds on a Martin County job with neighbors close by.

What comes off

What this takes off

The method does not care much what the contaminant is, only that it sits on top of something. Here is the usual list.

  • Paint and coatings

Selective removal, layer by layer, on parts where media blasting would cut into the substrate.

  • Salt and corrosion product

The year-round problem on the coast. The finish holding corrosion back has to survive the cleaning.

  • Ink and printing residue

Dried ink on precision roller faces, cleaned without altering the cell structure that does the work.

  • Food residue

Burnt-on product, fat and sugar on processing gear, with no chemical residue left on a contact surface.

  • Grease and oil

The greasy base coat that traps grit and dust. It releases early and takes the loose material with it.

  • Carbon and soot

Baked carbon on a manifold, oven or weld fixture. Thermal shock is exactly the wrong thing for the bond holding it on, which is why this works.

  • Adhesive and sealant

The stubborn film under old tape, or the gasket that tore and left half of itself behind.

How a job runs

The sequence, start to finish

There is no mystery to how these jobs run, and no part of it we would rather you did not ask about.

  • We test a small area

Settings get proven somewhere nobody looks before they get used somewhere everybody does. What is correct on cast iron will mark aluminum, so the test is not a formality.

  • We blast, then clean up

Nothing is left of the pellet, so the only thing to collect is what was on your equipment. That collection is part of the work we quoted.

  • You look before we pack up

A second pass while everything is still connected is free in every sense. A return trip is not.

  • You describe the job

Send images if you can, they settle most of the questions. A wrong-tool verdict comes on that first call, not after the invoice.

  • We look at access and containment

The layout decides the method more often than the contaminant does. We work out reach and containment before quoting anything.

The comparison

Why not just pressure wash it

  • Media blasting

Cuts into the substrate by design. Fine on structural steel, wrong on aluminum, plating, machined faces or anything with a tolerance.

  • Pressure washing

Forces water where water should not go, looms, bearings, seams, and then the job stops while it dries.

  • Solvent and degreaser

Good at softening, bad at leaving. There is always a residue and always a drum to get rid of.

  • Hand scraping

Fine on a patch, hopeless on a machine, and the blade leaves its own evidence.

  • Dry ice

It is the only one on this list where the media stops existing the moment it has worked.

Before we turn the rig on

Surfaces come out cold. On some jobs that means waiting a few minutes before handling, and on others it means condensation as the part returns to ambient temperature.

Everything the rig needs arrives with it. No tap, no drain, no outlet.

We cover what should not be hit before anything gets blasted. It takes minutes and saves arguments.

The media is solid CO2, nothing toxic and nothing left behind, but it pushes oxygen out of a closed room. Ventilation gets planned before the hose is connected.
