St. Lucie Village dry ice blasting

St. Lucie Village work comes to us the same way most of it does: something is coated in build-up and cannot be sanded, soaked or dissolved.

How the work runs here

Everything arrives on the van: compressor, hose, operator and containment. It is also why nothing has to be crated up and driven across town, the work happens where the machine already sits in St. Lucie Village.

Nothing of the ice survives the blast. That removes the entire cleanup problem every other method creates, leaving only the deposit that came off the equipment.

Questions from St. Lucie Village

Is St. Lucie Village in your area?

Yes. St. Lucie Village is inside our regular working area, and the rig travels to the job rather than the other way round.

What does the site need to have?

Just access and parking. There is no tap to find, no drain to use and nothing of yours to plug into.

Can you work around our schedule?

Usually. Tell us the window you have, including overnight or a planned shutdown, and we will tell you honestly what fits in it.

Who calls you around here?

Everything from an engine bay in a driveway to a production line at shutdown. The process is the same, pointed at a different problem.

Does distance affect the price?

Distance can factor in. You will hear about it up front, not on the invoice.

How do I get started?

Send the equipment, the location and a short description with photos if you have them. One of the owners calls you back.

Why St. Lucie Village equipment ends up like this

The heat matters more than people expect: baked-on residue cures harder in a South Florida summer. That is why so much of the work is removing what has bonded to a surface without taking the surface with it.

Light industrial, automotive and marine make up most of what we are called out for. In every case the truck brings its own air and its own containment, so you are not adapting the site to suit the method.

With no slurry to contain and no media to recover, a confined St. Lucie County site stops being a problem.

What comes off

The deposits we see most

Most calls involve one of the following. The common factor is a bond between two things that should not be bonded.

  • Grease and oil

The soft film that holds dust and swarf against metal. It is what makes a part feel dirty long after it looks clean, and it comes off first.

  • Carbon and soot

The hard black crust on a housing, an oven or a weld cell. Bonded by heat, and the first thing to release under thermal shock.

  • Adhesive and sealant

Sound deadening, tape residue, gasket material and sealant that has cured onto a face it was never meant to stay on.

  • Resin and mold release

Release agent and resin build-up on tooling, where a solvent fix trades one residue for another.

  • Paint and coatings

Taken off in a controlled way when what is underneath matters more than speed.

  • Salt and corrosion product

Salt deposit and the oxidation it starts. Anything abrasive removes the protection along with the salt.

  • Ink and printing residue

Dried ink and coating build-up on rollers and press components, where the surface texture is the product.

How a job runs

What happens once you call

If you have not seen this done before, the process is worth reading once. Nothing below is hidden in a footnote.

  • We test a small area

Pressure and pellet size get dialed in on an inconspicuous spot before we touch anything visible. Painted parts, soft alloys and older finishes all behave differently, and the right setting on one is the wrong setting on another.

  • We blast, then clean up

Nothing is left of the pellet, so the only thing to collect is what was on your equipment. That collection is part of the work we quoted.

  • You look before we pack up

We would rather you find the missed spot while we are standing there than a week later. Another pass on the day is the cheapest fix available.

  • You describe the job

Tell us the machine, the mess and the constraint. A couple of photos answers more than a long description, and if the honest answer is that something else suits it better, we say so.

  • We look at access and containment

The layout decides the method more often than the contaminant does. We work out reach and containment before quoting anything.

The comparison

The other ways to do this

  • Media blasting

It works by removing material, which is the problem. Acceptable on heavy steel, damaging on soft alloy, plating or a machined surface.

  • Pressure washing

The water has to go somewhere, and on most equipment that somewhere is inside it.

  • Solvent and degreaser

Chemistry works, but you inherit ventilation, waste handling and a film on the surface.

  • Hand scraping

Slow enough to be uneconomic on a machine, and the tool always leaves a trace.

  • Dry ice

The pellet is soft and the mechanism is temperature, not abrasion. It turns to gas on impact, so the only thing left to sweep up is what came off.

What happens in your space

Everything the rig needs arrives with it. No tap, no drain, no outlet.

We cover what should not be hit before anything gets blasted. It takes minutes and saves arguments.

The media is solid CO2, nothing toxic and nothing left behind, but it pushes oxygen out of a closed room. Ventilation gets planned before the hose is connected.

This is not a quiet method. Ear defenders are standard issue on site for anyone nearby.
